Shocking Video Shows Car Mowing Down a Boy on Brooklyn Sidewalk

Surveillance footage of a car running down a young boy on a Brooklyn sidewalk in midafternoon is leaving viewers wondering how it happened. Thankfully, the boy quickly made a full recovery.

The accident occurred on a busy Sunset Park sidewalk June 1. The footage doesn’t show what caused the driver to lose control, but it does show the vehicle jumping the curb and flattening a small tree before barreling over the three-year-old boy.

Witnesses immediately tried to free the boy, with one witness reportedly shouting to another to call 9-1-1. Footage shows a crowd gathering around the car and attempting to lift it off the boy, though they were unsuccessful.

Emergency technicians were able to free the child, and the video shows EMS carrying the boy away on a stretcher. Emergency medical technicians rushed the child and the driver of the car to Lutheran Hospital. They hospital has listed each of their conditions serious but stable condition, and both are expected to make full recoveries. Police have not charged the driver in the incident
