Motorcyclist Dies, Passenger Survives in Brooklyn Crash

Motorcyclist Dies, Passenger Survives in Brooklyn CrashA 34-year-old motorcycle rider and his passenger were thrown from their bike in a June 4 collision with a motor vehicle. The 20-year-old passenger escaped with only minor injuries, but unfortunately the driver of the Suzuki motorcycle later died of his injuries.
Ashmeade Rohan was driving along Rockaway Parkway around 9:30 pm when he collided with a Volvo sedan that was turning left from the oncoming lane onto Avenue J. The driver of the Volvo was reportedly not hurt in the accident. Given the time of the accident, poor visibility appears to have been a factor.
EMS responders rushed to the scene and transported Rohan and his passenger to Brookdale University Hospital. Rohan died at the hospital while his female passenger received treatment for minor injuries.
The NYPD sent a collision investigation squad to the crash scene early the following morning. It remains unclear whether charges will be filed against the driver, who stopped at the scene and cooperated with both emergency responders and police investigators.
