[Legal Dictionary] Definition of Average Weekly Wage, Average Daily Wage
Have you been doing some internet research on personal injury cases? By now, you’ve probably read a few unfamiliar words and phrases. Here are two terms used heavily in personal injury law:
Average Weekly Wage, or AWW, is a calculation of an injured employee’s average earnings for one week. This figure is commonly used to determine the amount to which an employee may be entitled as a lost wage benefit if he or she is injured and unable to work.
Occasionally, the similar calculation average daily wage, or ADW, may be a more accurate representation of the disabled employee’s earnings, and the insurance company or the courts will use it instead.
