SUV Slams into Motor Scooter, Injuring Delivery Man

A 47-year-old woman from Queens was making a left turn from Fourth Avenue onto Fifth Street when her SUV struck a motor scooter, injuring the rider. The 39-year-old victim, who was working as a delivery driver at the time of the accident, suffered multiple broken bones. The driver of the SUV was unhurt.

The Brooklyn accident happened around 8:30 a.m.June 4, and FDNY emergency responders rushed to the scene. They stabilized the injured man and transported him to Methodist Hospital for treatment. His injuries were severe, but not life threatening.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene. She appeared distressed, but cooperated with police accident investigators. Police did not charge or ticket the motorist, who was able to drive her vehicle away after questioning.

Police have not released the name of the victim. He is expected to make a full recovery, though he will likely need time off from his delivery job to recuperate from his injuries.
